MR Tech Toolkit 6.0 (which is like MR Tech Local Install 6.0) is now available. It provides extension, theme and other power tools for all users.

The primary goal of this extension is to provide the tools needed to install and manage extensions and themes locally. To do this the extension provides multi-extension installation support, hacking capabilities to the Extension/Theme manager windows, features to find and troubleshoot Extensions/Themes; and Build, GUID and Profile information.

No longer do you need to manually open the Extension Manager to install an extension (or the Themes Manager to install a theme). MTK adds the following entries to the File menu to help you install add-ons quicker and easier.

And even more entries are added to the Tools menu, some of which have submenus of their own.

MTK has numerous options to set. Please take the time to read them carefully before making your selection. Once everything is the way you like, be sure to save (export) your settings for safekeeping. One day, we will write a detailed help file or users guide for this extension.

In the Extension Manager and Theme Manager windows, MTK adds two new features.

1. Searchbox to find installed add-ons by name or keywords.
2. Toggle button to sort add-ons in ascending or descending order.

To undo the sort changes, simply close the window. The next time it opens, the default order will be restored. See the MTK Options (Manager Hacks -> Layout) for more settings.

You can change the style of the My Config window (and its generated html report) to suit your needs. Simply edit the code in MTK's Options. Go to the My Config tab -> Customize Style. Here is just one example of what you can do. Note the different font types, larger font sizes (for the visually impaired), green for Enabled items, and maroon for Disabled items.

1. Auto-Archive function
MTK does not always archive extensions or themes. This is true when there are multiple updates. Better archiving is the goal for the next major release, but the code for this function must be rebuilt.

2. All-In-One Sidebar (AiOS)
Using MTK with All-In-One-Sidebar may produce some adverse affects with Extension/Theme titles and other features, please disable window title, sorting and slimmode as these are already included in MTK.

3. ChromEdit Plus (CEP)
If you want to use both extensions together, you need to use the [new] version, ChromEdit Plus 2.7.0 or higher (download from the author's web site). Currently, you can customize CEP's chrome windows (change font type, font size, font color, background color) but not the corresponding chrome windows in MTK. A future build of MTK will contain more accessibility options for the visually impaired to include some of these font and color options.

4. Nightly Tester Tools / Nightly Tester Tools Lite / Titlebar Tweaks
If you want to enable add-on compatibility checking, it must be enabled in BOTH Nightly Tester Tools and MTK. If you want it disabled, it must be disabled in both. There will be a conflict if they are not synced in this way.

Similarly, if you have a custom window title, it must be the same in both extensions. MTK has several parameters you can choose from for your window title, or just type in your own.

You can also install Titlebar Tweaks if you have MTK and/or Nightly Tester Tools (or Lite) already installed. Titlebar Tweaks lets you customize your window title in ways that the other two extentions cannot. It is not fully replaced by MTK; it is only partially replaced. MTK cannot duplicate its functionality completely yet.

5. [sg] Songbird and [kz] KompoZer 0.8 are not supported in this build.

This is for testing & development purposes only!

Not all features and settings of the toolkit are available in Songbird, KompoZer 0.8, etc. Someone will need to do more coding for this to really work well for the toolbar buttons and additional settings. The Tools menu options, however, are available. The View My Config option is not showing in KompoZer.
