The Switch User Agent extension is the best way to change your user agent to make certain sites think you're running a different browser or operating system.

To add or edit a user agent, open its Options.

In this topic, I'd like to get a list of current user agents on various versions of Mozilla applications and operating systems. So feel free to add, edit or comment on anything you see here.

Please use the following template, just like the screenshot above.

User Agent String explained
List of User Agent Strings

Unfortunately, several versions (and operating systems for each version) are missing, and it does not have the latest releases. Most of the UAs for Mozilla-based browsers on that site are for Windows. I need the Mac and Linux strings too.

Here are some other sources for User Agent lists.

Huge Import List!
QAInsight - Update to the User Agent Switcher (March 4, 2007)
QAInsight - Four links to User-Agent list and an update to the user-agent import (May 18, 2007)
Tech Patterns - Firefox UserAgent Switcher list v1.0.4 (old)

I found two more lists of user-agents for browsers, spiders, bots, RSS readers, devices, etc. If you're looking to track down who/what a specific user-agent is or are looking to spoof a user-agent using the User Agent Switcher extension then these four lists should be helpful (newly discovered are on the top):

1. http://www.user-agents.org/index.shtml
2. http://www.botsvsbrowsers.com/
3. http://www.tnl.net/ua
4. http://www.pgts.com....pgtsj0212d.html

I've also updated my User-Agent list xml import file for User Agent Switcher to include a few WAP devices and toolbars.

Thanks, Lou. I updated the first post to include your links and some other ones I found via Chris Pederick's Forum.

All who contribute user agents to this topic will have my gratitude.

Can someone tell me how to make my own custom xml file to import, so that I don't have to work with that huge list?

Mozilla based browsers seem to generally use similar format:
Mozilla/majorVersion (platform; security; operatingSystem; language; branch) engine/buildDate app/version

mine:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6

The newer Mozilla browsers (since Netscape 6) have majorVersion of 5.0. You can pretty much split the strings between the language and branch to swap operating system and application (unless you want different language). Extra strings can be added to the end (like Flock does).

Internet Explorer I believe still use majorVersion of 4.0 (though there is a few listed as 5.0 (Spoofed?)). Extra strings can be added to the end before the ")". Basicly:
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE version; operatingSystem)

Opera listings also has spoofed useragents (that dont start with Opera) listed but their's is basically:
Opera/version (platform; operatingSystem; security; language)

Note: the operatingSystem strings may differ a bit between Mozilla, IE, and Opera, just look through the lists for each. Mozilla uses localiized language (en-US) versus Opera language only (en). The sniffers that use UA strings generally search for certain string variations within it. Others can get some strings directly from the browser.
For Firefox Quick Preference Button, quickly access common preferences.
