This version of Sound Extension is compatible with Firefox 2.0.0.*

It's been out of development for a while, but there's really nothing else like it, so I decided to take it up.

URL Fixed. The server is up and down all the time, so if you can't get it, try again later. Sometimes it's down a few days at a time.

If it's the same as this one, it adds sound to your web browsing and lets Firefox make sound on special events. We'll have to wait for a valid download link so we can find out.

This will be a GREAT extension once you fix some bugs. It is not yet ready to be published.

When I first launched a new test profile in Firefox 2.0 after installing this extension, I could hear the sounds when moving the mouse over the menus and toolbar buttons and when clicking on menus and buttons to select choices. However, there seems to be no way to change the sounds or to see which sounds are currently assigned. I don't know which events/options have or can have sounds.

Review the following screenshots. Aren't there supposed to be names next to each one of these options, so you know what sound you are assigning or changing? None of the Browse and Test buttons work when you click on them. It is the same on all three tabs. Clicking On/Off makes no difference. Can you fix it?

Also, the About box does not display properly. You need to fix that too.

I am very much looking forward to your next release. :)

I hae been looking forward to getting a working update of Sound Extnsion 1.0 (mispelling is as in the original).
I have been able to bring Sound Extnsion 1.0 forward through FF 1.5 to FF 2.0, in a limited way that uses my original sound links. (I kept the appropriate .rdf file in my profile folder). However, I cannot change the options.

I made sure that I backed up my extensions, before trying Sound Extension 1.0.0.1 - then I tried this one.

It doesn't seem to work any better, so I have gone back to Sound Extnsion 1.0, with its limited options.

If you have a working Sound Extnsion 1.0, be careful, since the new one may well wipe out the working version.

The options dialog is a mess of dynamic xml which I'm not sure I can untangle. It's not really a fix, but you can still change the sounds by going into C:\Documents and Settings\(Your User Name)\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\(Profile Name)\extensions\{e3b95882-a407-400f-900d-38737a154e88}\chrome\content\soundextension\wav and changing the wav files.

How were you bringing up the about box? I can bring it up in Firefox v2.0.0.2 by right clicking on Sound Extension in the Add-ons box and picking About sound extension.

Cheers,

Thanks. I will take another look at this extension and do more testing.

Lightning Stalker, please go into your Profile on this forum and fix your display name. It's showing as 0.

If you have a custom installation of Firefox like me, your profile path may be different -- even on another drive. Search your profile extensions directory and look for the long text string (GUID) that appears in bold.

This time the About box works. Torisugari must have forgotten to use a spell-checker.

I corrected the spelling errors and added your name as a contributor. That seems only fair.

The new build has been uploaded and mirrored.

It's a shame that you cannot fix the Options interface so that we can enable, disable, and change sounds easier. Maybe someone else who is more knowledgeable can help you at a later time.

[OFF TOPIC] Torisugari is Japanese. I don't think the Japanese have the concept of a "spell-checker". I think that there are about 40,000 kanji in the most comprehensive Japanese dictionaries, and a university graduate would be expected to know about 6,000 to 8,000 kanji.
